Laura asks: " i would like to loose weight, i have tried diet after diet and nothing seems to work, i just joined a gym and have gained another 5 kilos, im not happy with myself and the way i look. i am looking for an affordable weight loss program that is going to work and show me the results." We always try to answer with as much detail as possible and this was our response to Laura: Hi Laura
Firstly thank you so much for getting in contact with me :-)
Laura, you are a long way from being alone when it comes to diet failure. Diets fail for nearly 100% of people, and not only that, they reduce your metabolic rate so that it's gets tougher to lose weight over time. In other words, diets make things worse. So I really hope you're not blaming yourself when diets haven't got the results you wanted.
Likewise the gym. A gym can be a great help in weight loss, but not if you're program isn't right. For example a lot of trainers still tell people to get on the exercise bike or treadmill and just work away, giving cardio work emphasis over weight work. Scientifically this just doesn't make sense, because it can lower your metabolic rate and actually lead to weight gain!
Your gym routine should only be around 10 minutes of very varied cardio (slow-medium-fast, slow-medium-fast, etc without ever being too tough for you) and around 30 minutes of weights which are heavy enough that you can only do around 7 lifts before going onto the next one.
Also consider that the gym may not be the best place for you. If you don't really like it, it's definitely not :-) Is there a sport you enjoy? Or could learn to enjoy? People who play sport regularly get a metabolic boost that is good for their whole body.
You'll find that WeightChoice is certainly affordable and offers results that are real. This is because once you've made a change using WeightChoice methods, there's no backsliding. The change is permanent. Here's an example ...
Let's say that you have an "overliking" for a particular food, maybe pasta. Each time you eat pasta you're eating too much, and you're having it with creamy sauces, so that it's like eating 3 main meals instead of just one. You'd use the "Kill Cravings" technique to temporarily create an aversion to that pasta meal. The aversion would fade fast, within a day or so, but you'd be left with an ability to enjoy pasta, at the same time finding that you couldn't overdo it any more. Your stomach would say "I don't want it!" and you'd no longer be under the control of that food.
When you use the great variety of WeightChoice techniques to eliminate cravings, wipe out emotional and habitual eating, and become more active, the weight falls off and stays off. It's really about building a brand new life and lifestyle, with our help, using methods that don't require willpower, and do work :-)
Laura I hope you'll join us, and I look forward to working with you.
