Good grief. She’s been dieting all her life, and is surely by now well aware that weight loss programs fail for nearly 98% of people.
As a serial dieter, Oprah has personally and very dramatically experienced this failure over and over again – she’s a walking, talking example of the failure of diet programs, and yet here she is falling for Weightwatchers. Again.
She ends her comments by saying “I don’t feel that I’m on a diet that I’m ever going to go off again“, and “I feel like I’ll be counting points for the rest of my life“. What a big, fat, mistake!
Doomed to a life of deprivation and point counting – how freaking pessimistic and sad is that?
Be a Heck of a Lot Smarter than Oprah
There is no longer any need to go on a diet to lose weight and lose it permanently. There is absolutely no need to bust a gut at the gym.
Weight loss can actually be a bit of a hoot, and the weight can fall off accidentally and stay off.
Isn’t that better than dumb, old, out-of-date junk like Weightwatchers? And aren’t you a heck of a lot smarter than someone who signs up for the same awful merry-go-round year after year?
What’s the Alternative?
Imagine this. You discover that the extra 20 kg you’re carrying is all due to the extra 250 calories a day you’ve been “accidentally” consuming for the past 15 years. On examination you find that the reasons for eating those extra calories are:
- “Overliking” for a particular food, causing you to eat it too often, or eat too big a quantity
- Mindless or habitual eating – some people even have amnesia for this and really don’t realise what they’ve been consuming
- “Rebellion” eating, where it’s almost an act of revenge
- Emotional eating, where you eat because of a feeling such as stress, or boredom
- Situational or contextual eating, where food has become associated with particular events or circumstances
In the past people have tried to get you to overcome these kinds of things by willpower or distraction, which have no evidence of working and plenty of evidence of failure.
In more modern times, some people have moved toward a more psychological approach to try to get you to make lifestyle changes, but they use hopelessly ineffective strategies like CBT (cognitive behaviour therapy), mindfulness, or even hypnosis, which has an appalling failure rate.
There is one way and one way only to lose weight easily and permanently (and by the way, have a ball doing it). That way is to identify the exact conditioning at play in your own unique eating style, and to eliminate that conditioning using modern, proven techniques such as NeuroStim and “Kill Cravings” techniques. You can see examples of this in the videos below.
